I read The OFT wants to free "introducer websites" (where buyers and sellers can find a property they like but are then left to conduct negotiations between themselves) of the red tape and cost of some of the regulations that come with being regarded by law as an estate agent.
In the UK at the moment online services are dominated by the traditional estate agents, with introducer websites currently sharing 2% of the market compared with 15% in the US. So shop around!
